Before you start

Wait for a warm, dry day (10°c). Clean your wood with a stiff brush. If your fence hasn’t been treated before, clean it with either a pressure washer or a suitable fence cleaner, then let the wood dry before painting. Cover anything you don’t want to get stain on. To check you're happy with the colour, find a small hidden patch of wood to test on. You’ll need more coats for contrasting colour changes. If you’re using this pouch to refill your ready-mixed One Coat, the colour may look different when it’s wet. But don’t worry, it’ll all look the same when it dries.

Application

With a brush
After mixing, get lots of the stain on your brush, then brush on a thick coat. Brush in any drips. wipe any drips off plants or paving with soapy water before it dries.

With a sprayer
Ensure it's not too windy. Mix the stain in a bucket and pour it into the tank. Pump it up and start spraying. Use long, sweeping, horizontal arm movements and move along the full width of the panel. Drop down and do the same again, overlapping by about half. Clean any overspray with soapy water before it dries.
