Before you start
Wait for a warm, dry day (10°c). Clean your wood with a stiff brush. If your fence hasn’t been treated before, clean it with either a pressure washer or a suitable fence cleaner, then let the wood dry before painting. Cover anything you don’t want to get stain on. To check you're happy with the colour, find a small hidden patch of wood to test on. You’ll need more coats for contrasting colour changes. If you’re using this pouch to refill your ready-mixed One Coat, the colour may look different when it’s wet. But don’t worry, it’ll all look the same when it dries.
Application
With a brush After mixing, get lots of the stain on your brush, then brush on a thick coat. Brush in any drips. wipe any drips off plants or paving with soapy water before it dries.
With a sprayer Ensure it's not too windy. Mix the stain in a bucket and pour it into the tank. Pump it up and start spraying. Use long, sweeping, horizontal arm movements and move along the full width of the panel. Drop down and do the same again, overlapping by about half. Clean any overspray with soapy water before it dries.

Why do I need to protect my fence or shed?
Fences and sheds are made of wood. If you don't protect wood it'll turn grey in the sun or rot in the rain. At best it won't look good. At worse, it'll collapse. You can choose two different kinds of Fence Life to protect it. One Coat gets the job done fast. 5 Year Weather Defence needs two coats but will last year after year, after year. Revise with correct products.
How does the Precision Finish Power Sprayer work?
Our new Power Sprayer paints a fence panel in just 2 minutes. What's different is the power settings. You can control how it sprays. It has an accuracy setting so you can do the fiddly parts of your fence, with a small spray pattern. A control setting, that has a wider spray pattern, ideal for filling in gaps. Setting 3 is made for speed. Covering large areas, quick.

How do I clean the Fence Sprayer?
To empty the sprayer, push the pump handle all the way down and lift the pressure release valve until no ‘hissing’ can be heard. Once the pressure has escaped, unscrew the pump unit and tip any liquid back into its tub. (Alternatively, spray the excess liquid back into its tub before releasing pressure). Remove as much product as possible before cleaning, some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings. Don’t empty into drains or watercourses. It’s important that the sprayer is cleaned thoroughly after use. Don’t leave the sprayer filled with product when not in use or overnight. Rinse out the sprayer several times with clean water, then refill with clean water. Re-pressurise and then spray through the nozzle until the water runs clear, it’s best to do this on the Speed setting. Unscrew the wand handle from the trigger and clean the filter with clean water. Remove the nozzle and white filter and clean with warm, soapy water and an old toothbrush. Make sure you don’t use a sharp object as this will damage the nozzle and ruin the spray pattern. Put the nozzle back together and take care to do this in the correct order.
When should I treat my fence?
The best time to treat your fences is in spring. At this time the temperature is more favourable and vegetation which would normally get in the way will not have grown too much. Treating at this time means the hard work is done in time to enjoy the summer.
How to remove Ronseal wood stain
Old or flaking decking wood stain should be removed with a pressure washer and stiff wire brush. How to remove Ronseal fence paint
Our fence paint can be easily painted over, so if you want to change the colour or freshen up the paint, just paint over it. You might need several coats if your covering a dark colour with a light one and vice versa. For paint that’s flaking or peeling, you can sand the damaged area and cover the old paint with a new one. If you don’t have any sandpaper, you can use a stiff wire brush which will also remove dirt too. If your fence paint has splashed onto concrete or patio, a pressure washer or a stiff wire brush with some hot soapy water should get rid of the fence paint.
